The various stages of metamorphosis from larva to dragonfly follow one another in rapid succession. It begins with the back of the larva bursting open, after which the entire forebody wriggles out. Then begins a long period during which the thick abdomen is inflated, becoming increasingly longer and eventually hardening. The wings also start as small stumps and are inflated into thin, fragile wings. Since last year, I have been working on a photo and film project in my own garden, specifically focusing on life in our large natural pond.
