When the sun sets (or rises), there is no moisture in the air and you have a clear view to the horizon... there is a chance that at the very last moment of the setting sun, you can see the light turn green. Green flash can occurs because the atmosphere causes the light from the sun to separate, or refract, into different frequencies. (see: wiki). We were lucky to see it on the Dutch Wadden island Schiermonnikoog last weekend...
