On one very cold morning near Kilpisjärvi, Finland, we climbed with snowshoes on the hill to have look over the border towards Sweden. The sun was rising from behind, shining with its special pink color on the snowy mountains...

Arctic Aurora Chase, first quick result..zo, even heel snel... laptop staat in de camper aan om over te laden terwijl de deelnemers alweer ded nacht in zijn voor de tweede nacht met ... noorderlicht. Jaja, terwijl ik hier typ is het al in volle gang dus maak ik het niet te lang.Deze is één van de ca. 800 aurora beelden van afgelopen nacht... nog buiten de drie timelapses waar ook veel mooi beeld in zit. Het was waanzinnig, één grote lichtshow van 19:30 tot 2:00 en later... continu. STUITEREN!!!!groet Johan

Arctic Aurora Chase 2019... the end of the trip but not of the pictures#aac2019Op dit moment zitten we de laatste spullen te pakken in ons guesthouse. Na een lange rit van bijna 600km gisteren van bijna Noordkaap terug naar de kop van Finland werden we gastvrij onthaald met kampvuur en rendierstoofpot bij -20. Wat een waanzinnige eind van een nog waanzinnigere reis!Helemaal fantastisch was het cadeautje van de groep: een ballon met een 2 en één met een 5 ... en sterretjes. Immers, dit was de 25e (!) reis die Finn Snaterse en ik samen hebben georganiseerd en begeleid sinds de eerste reis in 2010. Een mijlpaal en wat voor één.Komende week wordt het ploeteren door een enorme berg aan geweldige beelden tijdens ons 3000km (!) lange barre tocht met onze campers door Finland, Zweden en de kop van Noorwegen en daarnaast nog alle duizenden timelapse beelden, filmpjes van de groep en zelfs noorderlicht op film. Kortom, voorlopig zijn jullie nog niet van mij af als het om de beelden van de Arctic Aurora Chase gaat... één ding is zeker, deze reis was om te proberen maar gaat vanaf nu in het assortiment!Hierbij alvast één van de meest gave beelden die ik heb kunnen maken ,de groepsfoto in vol ornaat: campers, sneeuwschoenen, sleeën, statieven, noorderlicht, dikke kleding... en 8 gelukkige mensen. En dat alles bij -22.groet Johan van der Wielen

"The night photographer" - selfie @ Arctic Auroa Chase 2019#aac2019While sitting at Heslinki airport I cannot resist continuing processing and editting pictures. During the first Arctic Aurora Chase Finn Snaterse and I organised as our 25th phototour I've made about 4000 pictures and ca. 10.000 timelapse images. This will take some time to all process but some pictures I'm very curious about. Like this one, taken on the lake Torneträsk near Abisko. A selfie within a panorama with three pictures. View from the ice cave...made during the Arctic Aurora Chase 2019 #aac2019After a spectacular night on the lake Torneträsk near Abisko with dancing auroras and the special pink ribbon, the next day the whole day began to get cloudy and cold. After a picture with pink shiny mountains we found this ice cave on the shore of the frozen lake, completely covered with icicles. It was hard to crawl in without breaking the ice or scratching yourself but finally I managed to find a spot where I could let the rising sun peaking throgh the icicles.regards, Johan van der Wielen
